Higher temperatures can indeed impact our bodies and hormone regulation in various ways.
When it comes to fitness development, exercising in warm weather can have certain advantages. The heat can increase your body's core temperature, which can result in an increased heart rate and improved blood flow to your muscles. This can potentially enhance your endurance and overall performance during workouts.
Moreover, sweating more in hot weather can help with detoxification by eliminating toxins from the body. However, it's crucial to stay hydrated and replenish electrolytes when exercising in high temperatures to avoid dehydration and heat-related illnesses.
Regarding hormones, heat can influence their production and regulation. For instance, higher temperatures can stimulate the release of certain hormones like cortisol, which is associated with stress responses. It's important to note that excessive heat or prolonged exposure to heat can lead to hormonal imbalances or disruptions, so it's crucial to maintain a balance and not overexpose yourself to extreme heat.
Here are my top tips:
1) Exercise in the early morning or evening
2) Keep it short and sweet, sprints and high intensity exercise works a treat in the heat
3) Get some electrolytes into you
4) Have a programme to stay accountable
5) Incorporate outdoor swims, ending a high intensity session with a sea swim is the ultimate winning feeling
6) Track your period as it might change in the heat
